Sunday Coupon Sneak Peek!

by admin on August 28, 2010

Tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) paper will contain a Procter & Gamble insert!!  Woohoo!!

I’m always excited about the Procter & Gamble insert, because there are usually some great sales with which to pair them!!

There is supposed to be a $1.00/1 coupon for the new Gain dish liquid in the insert!!  Since this is a brand new product offering, it is still at a lower price point.  The coupon should help make it a great deal!   I love the smell of Gain!

In addition to the Procter & Gamble insert, there will also be a Smartsource insert and a Redplum insert!   A great day to purchase the Sunday paper!

Surveys for Cash and Rewards!

by admin on August 25, 2010

If you have little extra time in the morning or evening, surveys can be a great way to earn a little “stimulus” for your budget.  Here are a few tips you should remember about survey companies!

  • Patience pays off!  You usually don’t earn a gift card or cash in your first week out of the gate.  Survey companies offer delayed gratification, rather than microwave results.   However, after several weeks or months of consistent application, you can receive some nice rewards in the mail!  (Perfect if you want to have a little extra Christmas dough!)
  • Use a separate email account for surveys!  By doing this, you keep your personal email from getting cluttered and you stay focused on the task at hand.  Open your survey mail, answer a few, and then you’re done!
  • Stick with the ones you like & toss the rest!  I received this great piece of advice when I began doing surveys, and it really helps.  Sign up for several survey companies at once.  As you begin receiving surveys, it will be easy to compare them and determine which ones you like the best!  If one company offers cash versus prizes, or if one offers gift cards to your favorite retailers, or if one consistently sends shorter surveys.  Stick with a couple of the ones you like, and forget the rest.  By focusing your effort on your top two, you will earn more quickly!

Here are a few of the top Survey Companies in the industry.  I have checked and they are all currently open to new applicants.

Synovate Global Opinion Panel-share your opinion and win prizes

Pinecone Research (Women age 18-24 or 35+)–one of the “elite” survey groups

Pinecone Research (Women age 55+)

Toluna Survey Panel-give your advice to Big Bosses and earn money

Surveyhead- Get $5.00 in your account when you register.  filled

Ipsos I Say-Voice your opinion for a chance to win $5,000

Inbox Dollars-InboxDollars pays members to read emails, take surveys online, play games, and go shopping.  New enrollees also receive $5 for joining.

A final note:  Most survey companies requires a “double opt-in,” to verify your participation.  Make sure to check your inbox and spam for a confirmation link from the survey company.  You normally won’t be able to begin your surveys until you do.  Have fun! :)

Reasor’s just started a fabulous addition to their FREE Antibiotic program.  They are now offering a FREE Vitamin Program as well!!   I inquired about this at my local Reasor’s store yesterday.  From what I understand, the FREE Vitamin program is fully funded by Reasor’s stores, as a gift to our local community (ie., it is not a government program).

Here’s how it works:

  • The Prenatal vitamins included in the FREE program are “Prenatal Plus” brand vitamins.  You will need to get a prescription from your doctor for this particular vitamin.  Reasor’s will provide a 30-day supply for 12 months–for FREE!
  • Children’s Vitamins–Children’s Chewable Multiple Vitamins with .25, .5 or 1.0 mg of Fluoride  (ask at your local Reasor’s for the specific prescription brand/formula you need to request from your doctor).  Reasor’s will provide a 30-day supply for FREE, until age 7!

ReminderReasor’s also offers a FREE Antibiotic program.  They provide FREE 10-day supplies of common oral Antibiotics with a Doctor’s prescription.  Antibiotics include:  Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, Penicillin, Doxycycline, Erythromycin, Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethroprim and Ampicillin.

GO HERE for more information about these programs,  or check with your local Reasor’s Pharmacy!

Yummy (and thrifty) Bread Recipe!

by admin on August 25, 2010

"Before" -my "puffy" loaves

I don’t know about you, but some days, all these coupons become a blur, life gets hectic, and I just need an “OUT”!  On those days, I usually find myself in the kitchen, whipping up some new recipe that I’ve discovered in the midst of the craziness!

I am quite pleased with my latest discovery!  I am intrigued with the art of baking bread, but it can be a little intimidating–I’ve had a few loaves that didn’t quite work out!  My friend Allyson introduced me to bread-making a couple of years ago and shared a great tip–use a KitchenAid mixer to do the kneading!  Duh–why didn’t I think of that?  It really does take the angst out of bread-making–now only if I could get that dough to rise faster!!

I started on a quest a couple of nights ago to find a recipe for healthy whole-wheat bread–but I had one stipulation.  Most homemade whole-wheat breads that I’ve tried are as dense as a brick–not something you can necessarily make a sandwich from.  I wanted something a little lighter.  And simple.  Surprisingly, I found this recipe for Honey Wheat Bread II soon into my search–it became my recipe of choice soon after I realized that I did not have all of the ingredients for all of the other bread recipes I had printed.  :)

After a little flour-flying, dough rising activity, I finally placed my somewhat odd-looking (but puffy) loaves into the oven.  I was rewarded in about 15 minutes — my entire house smelled like Krispy Kreme donuts!!  I wish I could bottle that smell and sell it! YUM!

After-YUM!

So if you need a little break this week, print the recipe, and have some fresh-baked bread (and butter-don’t forget the butter) waiting when your family arrives!  They’ll love you for it!

(By the way, your bread turns out WAY better if you turn on some French Café music, hum into your flour-laden baking spoon and pretend you’re Julia Child!)  Bon Appetit!
